Thursday, September 17 marked the inaugural Expect Miracles Kan Jam Classic which took place at the Boston Athletic Club in South Boston. Hosted by Young Professionals Expect Miracles (YPEM), this dynamic and unique event raised funds to support cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Expect Miracles Foundation Scholarship, which is awarded each year to a student who is currently undergoing treatment, or has survived cancer.
This memorable and fun night brought nearly 100 attendees together in the fight against cancer. Fourteen teams competed for the honor of Kan Jam Classic champion, but ultimately "The Slotness Monsters” secured the title for 2015, followed by “A Particular Set of Skills Against Cancer” in second place and “Chinnea Lames Kan Jam Against Cancer” in third place. The coveted award for highest fundraising team went to “King Ham” who more than quadrupled their fundraising goal, with over $2,000 raised.
Off the Kan Jam field, spectators had the opportunity to play a number of lawn games provided by Social Boston Sports, taste bites from Anna's Taqueria, Amrheins, and Sal's Pizza, sample beverages from Shock Top, Downeast Cider, Samuel Adams, and Shipyard, and enjoy live music from The Megan Harney Band.
After the conclusion of the tournament, attendees gathered to watch the exciting drawing of the Chinese Auction which included items such as a golf on Cape Cod, a league membership to Social Boston Sports, tickets to Laugh Boston, golf lessons, restaurant gift cards, shopping sprees, Red Sox tickets, and more.
Expect Miracles Foundation is proud to report that the Kan Jam Classic shattered previous YPEM fundraising records, raising nearly $13,000 for the fight against cancer! Thank you to our YPEM Leadership Team, volunteers, fundraisers, and event sponsors who made this night such an overwhelming success. With your help, we can Expect Miracles!
