MFAC was elated to launch its inaugural Expect Miracles Awards at the 17th annual Mutual Fund Industry Awards Gala, hosted by Institutional Investors News at the Mandarin Oriental in NYC on April 15th. The nonprofit was also selected as “Charity of Choice” for a fourth year in a row.
MFAC’s goal for the Expect Miracles Awards is to recognize individuals and firms within the financial community for their outstanding support and commitment to the fight against cancer.

The night was filled with excitement as Chairman Frank Strauss announced the Individual Expect Miracles Awards including; the Inspirational Contributor Award and the Miracles Maker Leadership Award (see below for winners and nominees).
In addition, Executive Director Christina Thirkell announced the Corporate Awards. Nominees included: Interactive Data Corp, MFS Investments and American Century. The Corporate Commitment Award was received by MFS Investments, and the Company for a Cure Award was given to American Century Investments. But the pinnacle of the evening was when she announced a much-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award to James E. Stowers Jr., founder and Chairman of American Century Investments.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be named the James E Stowers’ Lifetime Achievement Award and will set forth to honor those in the future who have dedicated their life to eradicating cancer.

Recognizes an individual at an executive or board level who has demonstrated long-standing personal leadership in cancer advocacy.
INSPIRATIONAL CONTRIBUTOR AWARD
Recognizes an individual whose personal efforts helped to ensure the success of a cancer-related project, event, or fundraising initiative in 2009.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
CORPORATE COMMITMENT AWARD
Recognizes a firm that has demonstrated an organizational commitment to the fight against cancer.
COMPANY FOR A CURE AWARD
Recognizes a firm for an innovative initiative or event in 2009 that helped to further cancer awareness, raise funds, and fund cancer-related programs.
